Does Austin require a permit to remove a tree in my yard?
For any tree 19 inches or more in diameter, yes — a protected tree — and heritage trees at 24 inches and up need more: an arborist's report, a hearing in some cases, and mitigation. Smaller trees don't. We measure and handle the application.
When can live oaks be pruned in Austin?
July through January, with every cut painted. February through June is the oak wilt danger window. We won't prune a live oak then except for storm damage.
