Cedar Park's neighborhoods — Buttercup Creek, Twin Creeks, Ranch at Brushy Creek, Anderson Mill West, Cypress Creek, Forest Oaks, the Avery Ranch side — went in mostly between 1990 and 2010 on limestone ground that was cedar and live oak savanna. The builders kept the natives where they could and planted live oaks, Shumard oaks and cedar elms everywhere else, and today those trees are thirty feet across, over roofs, pools and each other, on lots with a side yard you can barely walk down. The 2023 ice storm hit Cedar Park's live oaks hard; the cedar elms fail in every big thunderstorm; and the Shumards, which are red oaks, are where oak wilt centers usually start.
Cedar Park has its own tree ordinance with protected and heritage sizes and a permit process through the city — not Georgetown's UDC Chapter 8 — and most of the city is served by Pedernales Electric or Oncor rather than Georgetown Utility Systems. We check both before we quote. What doesn't change is the calendar: oaks July through January, every cut painted, tools sterilized between trees.

Does Cedar Park require a tree removal permit?
Cedar Park's tree ordinance protects trees by size and species and has heritage-tree provisions and a permit process through the city; residential lots have exemptions that differ from Georgetown's. We confirm with the city before quoting any big oak.
My Shumard oak died in a few weeks — is that oak wilt?
Very likely. A red oak going from green to brown in a month in spring or early summer is the classic sign. It needs to come down and be chipped before it grows spore mats, and the live oaks around it need mapping. Call before anyone prunes anything nearby.
Can you get a crane onto a Cedar Park cul-de-sac?
Usually. A 40-ton crane sets up in the cul-de-sac or the driveway with pads and reaches over the house. We do it every week in Buttercup Creek and Twin Creeks.
Who handles trees near the power lines?
PEC or Oncor for the primaries, depending on the street; the service drop to your meter is yours and the utility will drop it on request so we can work. Nobody cuts inside ten feet of an energized line.
