What should I do first if a tree falls on my house?
Get everyone out from under the damaged part of the house, don't go into the attic or onto the roof, and if the tree brought the service drop down, treat every line and the tree itself as energized and call Georgetown Utility Systems (512-930-3640) or PEC before anyone approaches it. Then call us. Photograph the damage from a safe distance if you can, and call your insurer once the tree is off and you can see the roof.
Does insurance pay for emergency tree removal?
If the tree fell on a covered structure — house, garage, fence in some policies — a standard Texas homeowners policy pays to remove it from the structure and repair the damage, subject to your deductible and a debris-removal cap. A tree that fell in the yard and hit nothing is usually not covered. We separate removal-from-structure from cleanup on the invoice so your adjuster can apply the right line.
